A few months ago, the famous Japanese brand ASICS presented collabs with Angelo Baque, Tremaine Emory and Renell Madrano as part of its ASICS Collective project. The co-founder of the New York shop PROCELL, Jessica Gonsalves, joins the collection with a reinvented GEL-Nimbus 9.
ASICS trusted Angelo Baque with the « ASICS Collective » collection, which debuted in July 2021. The former Supreme director and current head of Awake NY, commented : « This project is an opportunity for me to bring together some of my closest friends and challenge them to design something new, something outside their general wheelhouse. Tremaine, Spanto, Jess and Renell are all part of my creative community. They continually push the boundaries of their respective industries and inspire me in my own life. I’m thrilled that everyone is seeing their ideas come to fruition. »
Spanto, the director of Born x Raised, will be the next and last to present his exclusive collab.
Just like the previous collaborative releases, this new opus is inspired by the asics partner’s personal story. Jessica Gonsalves pays tribute to her family’s passion for sailing through this GEL-Nimbus 9.
The designer said of the collaboration : « I am honored to have the opportunity to work with such an iconic brand as ASICS. This shoe represents the vision and inspiration I hoped to share when I learned I would be designing my first footwear collaboration. »
Contrary to what one might have thought, this shoe isn’t dressed in sea blue and sandy beige, but sports a look inspired by mother of pearl and the hidden treasures that can be found at the bottom of the ocean.
In shades of white and cream, the shoe consists of a mesh upper, complemented by synthetic leather overlays and glossy side panels. To ensure the design, the tongue and its branding, as well as the laces and inner lining are also featured in white. « Jessica Gonsalves » appears only in black on the graphic white insole of the left foot. The whole is based on a signature cream GEL technology midsole and white outsole that harmoniously finalize the look.
The Jessica Gonsalves x ASICS GEL-Nimbus 9 will be released exclusively on October 22, 2022 at PROCELL in New York City for $170, before a global launch at select retailers and on asics.com on October 28, 2022.
