Pack Denim Tears x ASICS GEL-MC Plus « Georgia Red Clay »

Termaine Emory, also known as Denim Tears, just unveiled a new sneaker collaboration on his Instagram account. After working with Converse, the American designer teams up with Japanese sportswear brand ASICS and reinterprets the GEL-MC Plus silhouette.

This pack named « Georgia Red Clay » is inspired by Termaine Emory’s family history and her hometown of Harlem, a city in Columbia County, Georgia. The colors chosen to elaborate these 2 versions of ASICS GEL-MC Plus refer to the red clay of Harlem. A mineral that ran in the family of the co-founder of No Vacancy Inn by giving a job to his maternal grandfather and uncle. Termaine Emory posted a text message on his Instagram account from her father explaining the family history related to clay and expressing how proud he is to see his son honoring this legacy through these sneakers.

The two reimagined GEL-MC Plus iterations come in nearly reverse identical « Red Clay » and « White Clay » colorways. The shoe created in 1995 by the great Shigeyuki Mitsui consists of a mesh upper in white or pinkish red, complemented by tone-on-tone suede overlays. To complete the design, the inner lining and laces match the upper. Only subtle touches of stitching scattered across the sneaker appear in the reverse colorway, white or pinkish red depending on the pair. The ASICS logo is discreetly embroidered in tone on tone on the tongue and the Denim Tears branding adorns the insole. Both versions have a white performance midsole, taken from the GEL-CUMULUS 17, and a red clay colored spiked outsole.

The Denim Tears x ASICS GEL-MC Plus « Georgia Red Clay » Pack will be released very soon, as mentioned in Termaine Emory’s Instagram story, on denimtears.com. More info to come, stay tuned !
