The famous British retailer SIZE? continues to bring us eye-catching collaborations. After ending 2021 with a trio of reinterpreted NB 550s (article available HERE), the retailer begins 2022 by unveiling a PUMA Palermo pack paying homage to the first installment of one of the most famous movie trilogies, The Godfather.
The collab is part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the legendary film « The Godfather » by Francis Ford Coppola. It includes 3 versions of the iconic Puma silhouette of the 70’s, the Palermo. 3 pairs, 3 key moments of the film that marked the history of cinema : « The Wedding », « The Bar » and « The Restaurant ».
Featuring a mix of suede and nylon, each iteration is dressed in a different color palette referring to cult scenes of the film. The sneakers are adorned with a gold leaf quote under the iconic side tag of the silhouette.
For the colorway « The Wedding » it’s the famous « We go to the mattresses ». The shoe features an olive green base with the iconic Puma side stripe and pinkish beige inner lining. Its hues are reminiscent of the wedding tent where the audience first meets the characters.
The Palermo « The Bar » is adorned with the line « Leave the gun, take the cannoli » and references the Vitelli bar where Michael Corleone proposes to his father Appolonia Vitelli. Picking up on the bar’s design, the pair features a cream base paired with touches of red. A royal blue inner lining completes the look.
« The Restaurant » version features the legendary « It’s not personal, it’s strickly business », the explosive line that closes the final act of the first part of The Godfather trilogy. The teal blue color chosen to elaborate the base and overlays, as well as the neon pink on the side band and tongue branding, are inspired by the restaurant’s ambiance and its neon.
These 3 pairs are adorned with the combined gold branding on the tongue and insoles. They benefit from a gumsole that brings the final retro touch.
The 3 Size? x PUMA Palermo « The Godfather » are limited to 500 pieces per colorway. They will only be available via a raffle set up on the Size?launches app and open from January 28 to February 4, 2022.
