While the release of the latest KangaROOS x EASYdoesit collaboration is imminent (article available HERE), the famous German sneaker brand unveils a new project based on the Omnirun silhouette. Named « Stammtisch », this shoe « Made in Germany » is inspired by the beer culture and was designed with the help of a Munich-based artisan beer manufacturer, TILMANS.
Beer, hop and malt drinks are already well represented by the best manufacturers. Without wanting to compete with the biggest in this field, the German brand Tilmans, founded in 2014, wanted to bring another dimension to this popular drink. With uniform brewing, handmade production and traditional design, each style of beer is given its own interpretation. In addition, the famous liquid is poured into old-fashioned bottles with labels personalized by different artists.
The KangaROOS label therefore shares common values and making’s ways with Tilmans. The « Omnirun » silhouette chosen to elaborate this project is little known, as is the brand of artisanal beer. This shoe, made of top-of-the-range materials, is in fact a hybrid that takes up the famous Omnicoil upper and the Runaway sole. It consists of a brown upper made entirely of premium calf suede, a nod to the roasted malt and the tint of the Tilmans glass bottles. Slightly darker touches can be found on the lower laceguard and around the KangaROOS logo on the side panels. The shoe benefits from an optimized lacing system, thanks to sturdy bronze colored metal eyelets. Round yellow speckled laces, a thick leather tongue label and a deep blue mesh inner lining complete the design. The whole is based on the comfortable off-white DYNACOIL technology midsole, reminiscent of thick beer foam, combined with a matching outsole in the upper.
Inspired by the culture of this timeless drink, the shoe also pays homage to a Mecca for beer and its folklore, the famous Munich festival : the Oktoberfest, cancelled this year due to the health crisis. KangaROOS offers tickets for the next edition which should be held in autumn 2021 (if all goes well).
