After introducing skater Lizzie Armanto’s first signature shoe (article available HERE), the iconic brand Vans unveils a new collaboration rooted in street culture. The California-based label has teamed up with legendary Queens graffiti artist KR and his KRINK brand for an exclusive collection.
Craig Costello, better known as KR, is a graffiti artist from New York. In the 80’s and 90’s, his signature 2 letter tag was visible from Queens to San Francisco. Wanting to take his passion further, the legendary artist created his own ink. Under the guidance of the Alife shop team, KR put this ink into containers in order to offer high quality markers and other artistic accessories.
KRINK has already participated in collaborative projects with major labels. Now KR’s brand returns to California to design an « OFF THE WALL » trio featuring 2 pairs of Vans Old Skool and a Vans Authentic.
The revisited Old Skool is dressed in classic « Black/White » and « Navy » colorways. To enhance the suede base, Krink added reflectivity to the Jazz stripe as well as the co-branded tongue tag. A yellow « KRINK NEW YORK CITY » graphic on the side panels references its signature tag. An all-white sole completes the design.
Evoking another KR signature trend, the Vans Authentic appears all silver with a tough ballistic nylon upper reminiscent of mesh rib. Like the Old Skool, this collaborative pair features reflective tongue co-branding, heel pulls and a reinforced midsole to increase durability and allow for the best tricks.
These special editions will come with matching apparel including a jacket with a large interior pocket for markers and other accessories.
The KRINK x Vault by Vans collection will be released on March 25, 2022 at Vans stores and retailers and online at vans.com. Enjoy !
