The famous streetwear brand BAPE continues to present us with eye-catching collabs for this spring 2022. In addition to a collection with COMME des GARÇONS released a few days ago (article available HERE), a capsule, including a BAPESTA, has been elaborated with Heron Preston.
Heron Preston is a San Francisco-based artist who got his start in fashion with the late Virgil Abloh and Matthew Williams. After working with the Ben Trill collective, he launched his eponymous brand in 2016 to great success. Inspired by sustainable technology, Kanye West’s designer friend fuses environmental consciousness and streetwear aesthetics to design contemporary pieces with original designs.
The collection presented today is the 1st collaboration between the 2 brands.
Heron Preston drew inspiration from the BAPE archives to bring us pieces that reference the 90s and the origins of the Japanese brand during the NIGO era.
The designer remixed key BAPE pieces with his own design philosophy. A shark hoodie, pants, Ape Head t-shirts, a workwear jacket, caps and the famous BAPESTA sneakers feature oversized graphic prints and bold colors. Heron Preston created a new color combination for a camo that falls somewhere between BAPE’s 1st camo and purple camo. Preston’s signature orange color is evident. Each textile item is adorned with the co-branding and the orange HERON PRESTON badge.
The BAPESTA has an authentic look. It consists of a white base with orange camo overlays. The model name is embroidered in white on the heel, the tongue features a Heron Preston signature orange branding tag and the orange laces are adorned with a solid brass BAPE dubrae. An all-white sole harmoniously finishes the design.
The Heron Preston x BAPE collection will be released on May 7, 2022 in BAPE stores and online at bape.com, heronpreston.com and farfetch.com. The BAPESTA will be priced at $210 and the shark hoodie $310. Be ready !
