A few days ago, the famous Boston boutique BODEGA released a new opus that can be considered one of the most popular sneaker collaborations of the moment : the New Balance 9060 « Age of Discovery ». Today, it presents another collaborative project called « Worldwide Respect ».
This collection focuses on basketball and the passion for the sport in the United States, especially in BODEGA’s hometown of Boston and the West Coast city of Los Angeles.
To honor this passion for basketball, the history of the Celtics and Lakers, and their influence on their respective cities, BODEGA has partnered with Mitchell & Ness, the NBA and MEDICOM TOY to create this special collection.
The offering designed with Mitchel & Ness includes jerseys and shorts featuring the Boston Celtics or Los Angeles Lakers, with exclusive details and BODEGA branding on the back. The partners also designed a grey short-sleeve t-shirt featuring either the Lakers’ purple and gold logos or the Celtics’ iconic green brandings. Co-branded corduroy snapbacks, in either purple or green depending on the team represented, are also available.
With the NBA, BODEGA has developed exclusive doormats that take us back to the golden age of basketball with classic logos on nostalgic backgrounds. The team names are replaced with the Boston shop name, while keeping their own writing style and signature color.
To finalize the collection and represent the main actors : the NBA players, the Boston shop teamed up with the Japanese collectible toy brand MEDICOM TOY to design special Be@rbricks. Available in 3 sizes, these figurines appear translucent and dressed in Celtics or Lakers game gear, mimicking those designed with Mitchell & Ness.
The Bodega x Mitchell & Ness x NBA x Medicom Toy « Worldwide Respect » collection will be released on December 26, 2022 in stores on a first-come, first-served basis and online at bdgastore.com and slamgoods.com.
