Air Max 1 « Wabi-sabi » & « Blue »

The Air Max Day 2022 is getting ready in Beaverton. For this special day, Nike reserves us, among other things, several versions of the iconic Air Max 1. This silhouette is particularly honored because 2022 also marks an important anniversary, its 35 years. In addition to the « City of Light » iteration unveiled a few days ago (article available HERE), the « Wabi-sabi » and « Blue » colorways have surfaced.

As its name suggests, the Air Max 1 « Wabi-sabi » is inspired by the Japanese philosophy that finds beauty in imperfection. It features a white denim upper enhanced by overlays in yellow, dark and light brown suede, as well as khaki and dark green. The latter are adorned with white stitching to assert the Wabi-sabi look. The Swoosh appears in black and the upper eyelets in orange TPU. The 35 years of Tinker Hatfield’s design is honored with red « XXXV » embroidery on the side heel and a special « 3.26 » tongue tag refers to Air Max Day. The whole is based on a yellowed and cracked « imperfect » sole, coupled with a gumsole.

Presented as a worldwide edition, the Air Max 1 « Blue » has a neat and elegant look. It consists of a white mesh base with smooth white leather upper overlays and sky blue leather lower overlays. The Swooshes feature a grid pattern and appear mismatched : dark blue on one side and white on the other. The grid pattern is also found on the tongue tag where the NIKE midnight blue branding sits. To complete the look, the back of the heel and the insole are adorned with a globe pattern, and the laces are emblazoned with « 3.26 ». The pair features a white midsole and a two-tone light blue-dark blue icy outsole.

The Air Max 1 « Wabi-sabi » & « Blue » will be released for the next Air Max Day, so on March 26, 2022 or a few days before, for a price around 150$ per iteration. More info to come, stay tuned !
