The Berlin-based visual artist Ruohan Wang, who also excels in painting and illustration, is expanding its partnership with the American giant Nike. In addition to the revisited Air Force 1 unveiled in April (article available HERE), a limited edition Air Max 90 and Blazer Mid are added to this collaborative collection designed around Ruohan Wang’s favorite themes : humanity, nature and our beloved planet Earth.
Like the first pair from this collaboration, the AM 90 and Blazer Mid are dressed in bold colors and the artist’s signature illustrations. The shoes have a white base, in reference to the blank canvases on which the painters express themselves. This base is here decorated with colorful graphics. We find illustrations of the Earth, characters with a nice look and Chinese characters on different parts of the vamp. As on the Air Force 1, the two silhouettes present a mismatched tongue branding, which gives the illusion of being hand inscribed. The same applies to the heel logos on the Blazer Mid.
On the Air Max 90, the toe box and side swoosh appear in sky blue, while the collar and heel are adorned in purple and yellow. The leather overlays, tongue, inner lining and laces remain in the basic white color. To affirm the design, we find accents of pink, beige and black. The whole is based on a white sole with the capsule containing the air unit in neon green.
On the Blazer Mid, the toe box, tongue, top of the heel, laceguard and laces are adorned in white, highlighting the side panels, medials and heel largely colored and decorated in the Wang style. The emblematic pure white side swoosh adds cachet to the pair. The whole is based on a white midsole lightly decorated on the side, combined with a purple outsole.
The Ruohan Wang x Nike Collection, including the AF1, AM 90 and Blazer Mid, is scheduled for release on September 24, 2020 at selected retailers and on Nike.com. Be ready !
