Puma Suede VTG at Overkill

In these particularly stressful times of health, social and climatic crisis, but also of consumerism and incredible technological advances, the Berliners from OVERKILL wanted to give us a break and a return to our roots by reintroducing a cult sneaker. The famous German shop offers us the classic, legendary and timeless PUMA Suede silhouette in a VTG (Vintage) version in 2 flagship colorways, black and red.

This VTG version has been designed to be as faithful as possible to the original model released in 1968, which had a huge impact on sneaker culture. Notably when the athlete Tommie Smith, wearing his Puma Suede, won the gold medal in the 200m at the Mexico City Olympics and raised his black gloved fist in protest against the discrimination and violence suffered by Blacks in the United States.

These low shoes consist of a high quality suede upper, black or red depending on the iteration, with a white synthetic lining. The emblematic Puma side stripe appears in white on both sides of the shoe and the Puma brand is applied in gold on the side panels. A woven Puma Cat tongue label, a gold logo on the heel and matching laces on the upper complete the look. The whole is based on the traditional white midsole combined with the rubber outsole in the same color.

To complete the tribute, Overkill created a video featuring this iconic pair : https://youtu.be/ffGlw8AY0Gc
