After having recently honored the creator of the Asics GEL Lyte 3, Shigeyuki Mitsui, with a GEL Lyte XXX (article available HERE), the legendary California shop SHOE PALACE is once again teaming up with its compatriots from New Balance. A pack of NB 997S « Great White » referring to the great white shark is presented to us today.
This collection consists of two versions of NB 997S. It’s inspired by the famous « Red Triangle » area off the northern coast of California, named after the great white shark’s numerous attacks on humans.
Both iterations are dressed in the same color palette : black, teal blue, white, grey and orange yellow, but with a slightly different distribution. For the anecdote, this combination of colors reminds us of the jerseys of the Sharks of San Jose hockey team, city where SHOE PALACE was born.
The sneakers consist of a mesh upper with suede overlays and TPU inserts. A shark-teeth design on the heel and white and blue waves on the grey side N logo add cachet to the pair. Black or orange laces with a black dot pattern and co-branded insoles representing the ocean and the shark finalize the design. The whole is based on a black or white Encap Abzorb midsole, depending on the iteration, and an inverted color outsole.
