The creative collective of artists and designers BRAIN DEAD continues its series of collaborations with famous sportswear brands. After recently partnering with the equipment manufacturer Reebok (article available HERE), the BRAIN DEAD team is once again working with the Massachusetts brand CONVERSE and presents us with a pack composed of two silhouettes : a Chuck 70 and a new silhouette or hybrid model not identified at this time.
These two new collaborative pairs have not yet been officially released, but have been teased on the Instagram account of @farmtactics, a member of the creative collective.
The timeless Chuck 70 consists of a traditional white canvas base with a special mismatched cowhide print on each side of the shoe. One with large black spots and the other with smaller and more numerous brown spots. The tongue is also adorned with this pattern and the laces appear mismatched to complete the design. The midsole has been reworked in a new way : its construction is presented in small assembled and disorganized blocks of white color with a black or/and red stroke. The attention to detail is also reflected in the details of the brandings. The BRAIN DEAD brand is subtly embossed all around the sole, on the side, and the face-shaped logo of the collective replaces the legendary Converse star patch at the ankle.
According to the only photo posted, the hybrid pair or new silhouette seems to be dressed in a black and white « cow spots » print, just like the Chuck 70, but with a creamy overlay of transparent mesh covering the sides and a white Converse logo. The lacing system is reminiscent of hiking boots, one of the big trends of the moment. The green eyelets and the unique black lace are made of elastic material and the closure could be made with a lock laces, to be confirmed… Above the sole, on a cream-colored band, the BRAIN DEAD brand also appears in relief and in tone-on-tone all around the foot. On the toe box, we discover a black rubber shell with relief geometric stripes. The whole is based on a deep black midsole combined with a small pimpled outsole in a lighter shade.
The official release details of the new Brain Dead x Converse pack are not yet known, but more information should arrive very soon… stay tuned !
