During the last few months, the designer Virgil Abloh focused on Jordan Brand’s b-ball sneakers and presented AJ4 and AJ5 with Off-White sauce (articles available on this website). Today the multidisciplinary American designer is returning to the world of athletics. Announced since March 2020 by the serious account of leak @py_rates, the next collaboration between the giant Nike and OFF-WHITE, based on the racing silhouette Air Zoom Tempo Next %, should arrive on the market in a short time.
The first photo to appear on the networks shows a shoe with an aesthetic close to the mock-up unveiled earlier this year and the construction of the sneaker remains faithful to the original model. However, Virgil Abloh has made modifications to affirm his personal touch. We find a Swoosh without contours but appearing as if it’s roughly painted on the sides of the shoe, adding contrast to the Primeknit upper. The unveiled pair consists of a black upper with the white Swoosh. To complete the design, the typical Off-White lettering is applied in white on the side panels and the word « AIR » stands out on the back of the black midsole. Also, the outsole has been modified and adorned with neon green athletic track rubber spikes, continuing the idea developed in previous Vapor Street and Waffle Racer collaborations. To harmonize the design, the upper tongue and the innovative Air Zoom pods positioned under the front of the foot are also neon green.
This new collaborative pair should be offered in 2 other colorways : White/Black/Solar Red and Racer Blue/Black/Pink Glow.
The OFF-WHITE x Nike Air Zoom Tempo Next % will be released in fall 2020, on Nike.com and at ultra select retailers for a suggested retail price of 260€ per pair. More info coming soon, stay tuned…
