The Beaverton giant has already announced the return of the Nike Air Raid in its OG form in Black/Grey colorway (article available HERE) before the end of this year 2020. In parallel to this highly expected re-release, the Swoosh brand seems to plan to release its most bold version : the Nike Air Raid « Urban Jungle Gym ».
The b-ball silhouette designed by the great Tinker Hatfield had been reintroduced in 2014, but with slight modifications compared to the original model. The next Nike Air Raid « Urban Jungle Gym » of 2020 should benefit from a construction much closer to the shoe originally released in 1993.
The sneaker high consists of a black mesh upper with black nubuck on the toe box, complemented by grey nubuck overlays. A nice touch of contrast is brought by the multicolor print (green, yellow, red and blue) typical of the 90s and inspired by Spike Lee’s spots. It’s found on the tongue branding, the red heel strap and it covers the midsole. The two support straps, characteristic of this silhouette, appear black with yellow stitching creating a neat pattern, so the « Peace and Love » logo stands out on their junction. The green inner lining, as well as the tongue, laces and outsole in black color complete the design.
The Nike Air Raid « Urban Jungle Gym » will be available soon on Nike.com and at selected retailers for a suggested retail price of 130€. More info coming soon, stay tuned…
