After suggesting in June that an Air Force 1 « Rayguns » would be released in 2021 (article available HERE), the Swoosh brand unveils today a silhouette of the 90s on the same theme : a Nike Air Raid revisited « Rayguns ».
The design of this shoe refers to the Roswell Rayguns, a fictional ABA basketball team created by the BBall division of Nike for an advertising campaign in the early 2000s.
This extraterrestrial theme is best known for being applied to a popular SB Dunk Low in 2005. It has been used on various options over the last five years, but the Air Raid version brings a different touch.
It consists of a base combining honey-yellow nubuck and mesh with black nubuck overlays. We find the emblematic cross straps above the foot, here in orange with yellow stitching. A black tongue featuring the green alien head « Roswell Raygun » logo and a black heel strap embellished with three yellow, orange and white stars complete the design. For add contrast, the midsole appears in white and matching laces elegantly accentuate this effect. The yellow Rayguns inscription is found on the black midsole and the slogan « For Out Door Use Only » is still embossed on the heel. A thick orange terry towelling inner lining and a black rubber non-slip outsole enhance comfort and performance.
The Nike Air Raid « Rayguns » is expected to be released before the end of this year 2020, at selected retailers and on Nike.com, for a price around 140€. More details coming soon, stay tuned !
