Nike Air Max 1 ’86 “Blue Safari”

Article to be found on:

To celebrate the Air Max this year, the Swoosh brand has reissued a cult model, the AM1 ‘Big Bubble’ from 1986. Nike unveils a new version of this legendary sneaker in a special “Blue Safari” colorway.

Designed by the great Tinker Hatfield, the Air Max 1 ‘Big Bubble’ is a very rare model that was part of the original 1986 production run, before the official launch of the Air Max 1 a year later, in 1987.

This new version is predominantly blue, with a popular animal look. It features a light-gray mesh upper complemented by light-blue fabric overlays and a navy-blue suede side Swoosh. The inner lining, upper eyelets and embroidered Nike branding on the back of the heel are also presented in navy blue. The originality of this AM1 ’86 lies in the mudguard adorned with the famous Safari print in 2 shades of blue. The pair’s vintage feel is ensured by a yellowed midsole, adorned with a blue ‘AIR’ inscription above the Big Air unit. The look is harmoniously finalized by a navy blue rubber outsole.

The Nike Air Max 1 ’86 “Blue Safari” will be released over the next few weeks or months, at selected retailers and on nike.com. Pricing is expected to be €170. Stay tuned !
