The famous Japanese sportswear brand ASICS regularly presents us with eye-catching collaborations. At the end of January, the automotive supplier Toyoda Gosei brought its touch to the famous GEL-SONOMA 15-50. This qualitative silhouette with a trendy design appears today revisited by the Seoul-based designer brand MATIN KIM.
This collaboration marks the 1st joint project between the 2 brands.
The relatively young Seoul-based label is already making a big impact on the Asian streetwear scene, with pieces worn by celebrities like Twice and Nmixx. MATIN KIM is inspired by various influences to offer comfortable pieces combining tradition and modernity, with a minimalist and innovative look that is very popular at the moment.
To reimagine the asics GEL-SONOMA 15-50, Matin Kim was inspired by cross-country shoes and pays tribute to the natural wonders of the world such as the sky, the sea or the mountains.
This sneaker appears in 3 elegant colorways : “Oasis Green/Pure Silver”, “Black/Pure Silver”, and “Glacier Grey/White”.
In terms of construction, the shoe consists of an upper that combines lightweight, breathable mesh with premium canvas and durable leather. To ensure foot support and comfort, the pair benefits from a quick lacing system and a thick mesh inner lining. The collab is subtly confirmed by the Matin Kim branding engraved on the contrast-colored tongue tag and left foot insole. Reliable comfort and enhanced traction are provided by the famous GEL-Sonoma outsole.
The Matin Kim x ASICS Gel-Sonoma 15-50 “Tracing Ego” trio was released March 15, 2023 in stores and online at the brand’s website matinkim.com. A global launch at select retailers and on asics.com is expected to arrive soon, stay tuned !
