Kappa is one of the equipment manufacturers that promotes the cause of women in sport. The legendary Italian brand has teamed up with the women’s professional basketball club : the Basket Lattes Montpellier Association (BLMA) to create a unique jersey. This exclusive piece celebrates the HÉRAIA event: an exceptional day dedicated to women’s sports.
On Sunday March 24, 2024, La BLMA played an LFB match at Montpellier’s Sud de France Arena against the Tarbes Gespe Bigorre team. It was during this exceptional event that the BLMA players unveiled a very special jersey that is both stylish and symbolic.
The jersey features a combination of black and gold, hues never before used by the club. Black was chosen for elegance, while gold underlines the notion of power.
To affirm the strong message of women in sport, each female basketball player on the team named an inspirational woman. All these names were printed on the jersey. Among these great ladies are, for example, Marie-Josée Perec, Lindsey Vonn, Serena Williams and Megan Rapinoe.
Clara Delattre, Designer at Kappa commented : “I explored several avenues of thought and color. After many discussions with the players, the visual of the women’s fists raised was immediately convincing. Strength, power and determination were the words that came across. And that was exactly the spirit we wanted to represent.”
