Manila-based FORTUNE WWD has launched its Autumn/Winter 2023 collection. Named “TUNE-ALLS®”, this assortment of clothing and accessories appears as an exploration dedicated to the way music inspires the label’s creations.
Fortune W.W.D.‘s philosophy is to focus on a garment’s ability to constantly reinvent itself through its use, design, materials and silhouette. This Filipino brand aims not to lock itself into a singular aesthetic, but rather to adapt to new trends and explore the possibilities of clothing when seen from different perspectives, mindsets and disciplines.
The Autumn/Winter 2023 “TUNE-ALLS®” collection is based on the slogan “The Best Known Sound in the Overall World”. It’s inspired by triangular and sawtooth waveforms as a starting point for materials : first in the form of embroidery, but also in patterns and details.
All garments use angular shapes. Corduroy and pleats also feature prominently in this collection, to reinforce these lines and echo the wave-like representations.
The centerpieces of this new opus are undoubtedly the Trucker Denim Jacket, available in Cream and Brown, combining elements of Type 1 and Type 2 denim jackets, and the Side Pleat Patch-Panel Denim Jeans, which references the side stripes of sports pants, while adding comfort and volume. These two items can be combined to form a complete ensemble. Pleated details make this an easy-to-wear “casual suit”, while retaining high wear resistance and practicality.
Another eye-catching item is the Corduroy Patch-Panel Safari Jacket, featuring Fortune’s multicolored rope stitching on the embroidered Tune-Alls® Sound Wave motif : a key visual element of this collection, used for both graphic and textural impact. Drawing its inspiration from Hunter S. Thompson’s iconic Abercrombie & Fitch jacket and the louche styling of Johnny Depp’s portrayal of Raoul Duke in “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, this piece offers comfortable warmth while remaining playful.
Also, the popular Nut Works Division Trousers return in a satin cotton fabric, with two-tone panels for a fancier, dressier look. These bottoms feature the famous “jimmy” zippered storage pocket near the fly.
