The legendary brand DICKIES continues to expand its Fall/Winter 2022 offering. In addition to its Neo Nomad collection, it offers a collaborative capsule of iconic pieces reinterpreted by the creative label OPENING CEREMONY.
OPENING CEREMONY (OC) was founded in 2002 by Humberto Leon and Carol Lim in Hong Kong. First as a concept store, then as a brand quickly noticed for the quality of its avant-garde collaborations, notably with Margiela and Chloë Sevigny. The label then made its mark in the United States with its own creative line. OC designs a complete wardrobe in an ultra-casual spirit. Originally preppy/chic in style, Opening Ceremony’s design now has an increasingly streetwear aesthetic. Items are dressed in bright colors and feature oversized patterns.
Over the past two decades, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon have paid homage to the iconic pieces of the biggest brands by revisiting them in their own way, with unexpected touches. They continue to do so with their collaboration with Dickies.
Sarah Crockett, Director of Marketing for Dickies commented on the collab : « It’s an incredible moment for the two iconic brands to reimagine classic Dickies products through the Opening Ceremony spirit. Opening Ceremony is known for pushing the boundaries of fashion and creativity and we at Dickies are championing the brand they created. »
Carol Lim, Opening Ceremony’s co-creative director also explained : « We imagined how these iconic pieces from the Dickies archive could be reinterpreted to pay homage to both of our communities. »
This new capsule participates in the celebration of 2 anniversaries : the last chapter of Opening Ceremony’s 20 years and Dickies’ centenary .
It appears as the meeting of Dickies’ workwear silhouettes with OC’s Made in Italy fabrics.
The collaborative collection includes four unisex styles : work pants and shirts in loopback tweed, as well as jeans and utility jackets in velvet denim. The first set, pants/shirt, features a plaid pattern and comes in two colorways, a timeless white/black and a bolder yellow/mauve. The second set of jeans and jacket, is based on the same principle, with one offering black and the other purple. Each piece is adorned with an exclusive co-branding.
For the campaign of this exclusive collaboration, Dickies and Opening Ceremony teamed up with writer and director Andrew Thomas Huang. Huang wanted to capture an intimate moment of the maker’s day. Iconic figures who excel in their respective fields highlight the pieces in this collection : actress and producer Poppy Liu, DJ and producer Mez Monti, and artist and jeweler Georgina Trevino.
The Dickies & Opening Ceremony collection is available at openingceremony.com, dickies.com, farfetch.com and select stores worldwide like BSTN. Prices range from $165 for the tweet pants to $235 for the velvet denim jacket. Let’s go !
