The iconic German brand KangaROOS unveils a new eye-catching premium collaboration. A few days after offering us an Ultimate designed in collaboration with What’s Beef restaurant, the sneaker specialist unveils a new version imagined with Bobby’s Dry Gin.
Bobby’s Dry Gin is a fresh and spicy combination of « Schiedam » gin botanicals such as juniper, fennel seeds and coriander, and traditional Indonesian spices. It unites the West and the East and uses only organic ingredients to create its characteristic fragrance and taste.
Brothers David Blom & Sebastiaan van Bokkel, the founders of Bobby’s Dry Gin, share their passion not only for good gin and tonics but also for fashion and sneakers.
These interests are simply common points with the members of the KangaROOS team. One day they brought David Blom and Rajko from the KangaROOS team in the Netherlands together. The two enthusiasts discovered that they share the same roots and the same history : both their grandfathers are from Ambon and were soldiers for the Dutch army in Indonesia between 1945 and 1949. In this regard, the name Bobby’s Dry Gin refers to the grandfather of the founding brothers of the brand, Jacobus Alfons, whom his friends and family called Bob or Bobby.
To reinvent the famous ULTIMATE, David and Sebastiaan were inspired by the rich history of Bobby’s Dry Gin and the Netherlands.
Handcrafted in Germany at the Hummel & Hummel shoe factory, this special version features a suede upper in various shades of brown that evoke cloves and other spices like pepper or juniper. The green comes from the leaves of an orange and rosehip, another green tone recalls the pack that soldiers had for their belongings when they arrived in Indonesia. The blue, yellow and the other green hues refer to the seals of Bobby’s Jenever, Bobby’s Gin and the new Bobby’s Pinang Raci Gin bottles. The sneaker features side panels with a traditional Indonesian white ikat weave pattern taken from the signature design on the body of Bobby’s Dry Gin bottles. To ensure the look, the insole features a print and 3 sets of laces will be included. The whole is based on a DYNACOIL sole that harmoniously finalizes the design with its combination of white/yellow/green and brown rubber.
The pair will be delivered in a co-branded box with the ikat pattern. It will be accompanied by a bottle of gin and a small fabric bag filled with cloves.
The Bobby’s Gin x KangaROOS Ultimate will be released on October 29, 2022 for €290, at selected retailers and on kangaroos.com. It will be available in sizes EU 36 to EU 47 (US4-US13). Be ready !
