After a few years of absence, the Boston streetwear brand BANDULU Street Couture and the label CONVERSE have come together to present a new collection including two pairs of sneakers : an emblematic Chuck 70 and a popular Pro Leather.
BANDULU founder Pat Peltier explains : « We approached this collection as an ode to OG basketball culture through the prism of craftsmanship and art ». Bootleg and basketball represent the identity of this streetwear brand, so the history and impact of Converse inevitably interested Pat Peltier.
The Chuck 70 consists of a brown canvas upper, adorned with purple laces and based on an off-white sole combined with a pale pink outsole. The Pro Leather features a wheat/honey suede base in the signature Timberland boot color, tone-on-tone laces and sole and a brown heel tab.
Both silhouettes feature embroidery in various colors referring to the splashes of paint that graffiti artists, and other street artists, may have on their shoes. This style of detail is often used by BANDULU for its own clothing collections. We find the coupled brandings on the side panels and BANDULU embroidered with purple thread on the tongue, respectively for the Pro Leather and the Chuck 70, as well as the mythical Converse logos in their usual place.
This collection is complemented by basketball-inspired clothing and accessory. We discover a hoodie combining the colors of the sneakers duo and featuring « splash paint » embroideries, a wheat/honey color short with the BANDULU brand embroidered in mauve, and a white short sleeve t-shirt with a print on the chest representing a dog wearing these two new pairs. A brown leather basketball bag with a wheat-colored strap completes the collection.
The Bandulu x Converse capsule collection, including the Chuck 70 and the Pro Leather, will be released on February 11, 2021 on the websites of the two partners bandu.lu and converse.com and at selected retailers. The bag will arrive later, on March 29, 2021, in a limited edition.
