The famous Japanese shop ATMOS has had a privileged relationship with the German giant ADIDAS for many years. During their partnership, the 2 brands have offered us some eye-catching projects including the “G-SNK” series (many articles available on this site). They present us their latest opus, an atmos x adidas Originals ZX8000 G-SNK “MASH UP”.
As the name suggests, this new collaborative variation of the series features a “What The” design by combining elements of the many previous colorways.
Appearing multi-colored and flashy, the ZX8000 G-SNK “Mash Up” is a tribute pair to the “G-SNK” series.
Specifically, it includes the blue color of the “TJ” released last year at the midsole and heel reinforcement, under which we find the black snakeskin pattern of an earlier variation of 2011. The yellow nylon toe box with red overlay and black toe cap is from the 2021 version (itself inspired by the ZX 8000 OG “Germany”) and the panels/laceguard are from the 2020 version.
This commemorative pair also features a black inner lining that matches the outer side of the tongue. The inner side is neon green to match the laceguard and dubrae. A small 3M insert on the heel, white adidas branding on the tongue tag and mismatched insoles with co-branding complete the look.
The atmos x adidas Originals ZX8000 G-SNK “MASH UP” will be released in Japan on February 17, 2023, priced at ¥17600 ($132), in stores and online via an open raffle on the Tokyo-based shop’s website, atmos-tokyo.com.
