Les labels asiatiques Limited Edt et SBTG aka Mark Ong aka Mr Sabotage, font équipe une nouvelle fois avec NEW BALANCE pour réinventer le fameux modèle 580 dans le cadre de la collection « Urban Islander II ».
En octobre 2020, le trio nous avait proposé un premier opus « Urban Islander » basé sur les silhouettes des New Balance 327 et NB 900, et inspiré des paysages urbains spéciaux de Singapour et de ses spots tropicaux chill.
Cette nouvelle triple collaboration rend également hommage à l’ambiance à la fois tropicale et urbaine qui règne à Singapour. La NB 580, qui est le modèle pionnier de Nippon Kikaku en 1996, a été revisitée pour symboliser cette ambivalence. Cette fois, le trio a délaissé l’esthétique de type militaire utilisée il y a 2 ans, pour privilégier des teintes respectivement ‘sable’ et ‘noire’ rappelant, respectivement, le charme des stations balnéaires et l’architecture des bâtiments urbains.
Cette NB 580 spéciale se compose d’un upper en mesh noir, évoquant le côté urbain, et de superpositions en daim velu couleur sable, qui rappellent les plages de Singapour. Pour harmoniser le design, l’emblématique logo N latéral, la doublure intérieure, le heel tab doté de cuir 3M réfléchissant et le branding NB de languette apparaissent également de couleur sable. Pour ajouter une touche de style, la semelle intérieure est ornée d’un motif ananas, faisant écho à la continuité thématique de la version précédente, et du nom de la collection « Urban Islander ». L’ensemble repose sur une midsole blanche couplée à une outsole sable.
La New Balance 580 « Urban Islander II » sortira le 15 décembre 2023 exclusivement dans les magasins Limited Edt, et online sur limitededt.com et sbtgsurplus.com.

In October 2020, the trio brought us their first « Urban Islander » opus, based on the silhouettes of the NB 327 and the NB 900 and inspired by Singapore’s special urban landscapes and chill tropical spots.
This new triple collaboration also pays tribute to Singapore’s tropical yet urban vibe. The NB 580, Nippon Kikaku’s pioneering 1996 model, has been revisited to symbolise this ambivalence. This time around, the trio have abandoned the military-style aesthetic used 2 years ago in favour of ‘sand’ and ‘black’ hues that evoke, respectively, the charm of seaside resorts and the architecture of urban buildings.
This special NB 580 consists of a black mesh upper, evoking the urban feel, and sand-coloured suede overlays, reminiscent of the beaches of Singapore. To match the design, the iconic N logo on the side, the inner lining, the heel tab with reflective 3M leather and the NB branding on the tongue are also sand-coloured. For an added touch of style, the insole features a pineapple motif, echoing the thematic continuity of the previous version, and the name of the « Urban Islander » collection. The whole is based on a white midsole coupled with a sand outsole.
The New Balance 580 « Urban Islander II » will be released on 15 December 2023 exclusively in Limited Edt shops and online at limitededt.com and sbtgsurplus.com.
