Deux grands personnages de la communauté sneakers de Singapour, l’artiste-customizer Mark Ong aka SBTG et le shop Limited EDT, se sont associés aux américains de chez New Balance afin d’apporter leur touche personnelle à la silhouette en vogue 327 et à la sandale 900.
L’esthétique de ces chaussures est inspirée de la dualité de la cité-Etat de Singapour, à la fois énorme centre financier hyper actif et lieu d’escapade sur une île tropicale. Elle se parent de couleurs rappelant les uniformes militaires, relevés par des prints de SBTG.
La NB 327 se compose d’un upper en nylon avec des superpositions en daim. La paire est dépareillée et divisée par le milieu. Les côtés médiaux apparaissent en nylon vert-turquoise avec des superpositions noires et les côtés latéraux s’habille de nylon noir avec l’imposant logo N brillant en ton sur ton et les superpositions sont vert olive. Sur le pied gauche, le coté médial est orné d’un print léopard noir et gris alors que sur le pied droit, on découvre des motifs ananas blancs avec la mention « Urban Islander ». Cette dernière se retrouve sur la languette et sur l’insole, couplée au branding New Balance. La doublure intérieure rouge, les lacets noirs avec les bouts rouges et l’inscription « limited Edt » imitant le traditionnel New Balance gravé sur le côté du talon, complètent le design. L’ensemble repose sur une midsole noire du côté médial et sable du côté latéral, combinée à l’originale outsole à crampons remontante.
La Sandal 900 se présente de couleur olive avec des triples sangles de maintien rembourrées beige. Pour un maintien optimal, cette sandale bénéficie du système de laçage BOA, avec des accents rouges tout comme sur la NB 327. La base des sangles se parent d’un motif léopard sur le côté médial et de prints ananas et « Urban Islander » sur le côté latéral vert, rappelant le design de l’autre paire de cette collection, la NB 327. Le look ambiance tropicale est complété par une étiquette de branding « Urban Islander » apposée sur la sangle de talon. Un renfort au niveau du tendon d’Achille et un tirant de talon finalisent le design et promet un confort maximal pour les longues balades au bord de l’eau. L’ensemble repose sur une épaisse et confortable midsole de couleur olive et sable, combinée à une outsole en caoutchouc anti-dérapante.
Les SBTG x Limited EDT x New Balance 327 & Sandal 900 sortiront en édition limitée le 15 octobre 2020 sur le site du shop limitdedt.com et celui de M. Sabotage sbtgsurplus.com, ainsi qu’en magasin chez Limited EDT Chamber.
The aesthetics of these shoes are inspired by the duality of the city-state of Singapore, both a huge, hyperactive financial center and a tropical island getaway. They are dressed in colors reminiscent of military uniforms with SBTG prints.
The NB 327 consists of a nylon upper with suede overlays. The pair is mismatched and divided by the middle. The medial sides appear in turquoise-green nylon with black overlays and the sides are dressed in black nylon with the imposing shiny tone-on-tone N logo and the overlays are olive green. On the left foot, the medial side is adorned with a black and grey leopard print while on the right foot, white pineapple motifs with the words « Urban Islander » are displayed. The latter is found on the tongue and on the insole, coupled with New Balance branding. The red inner lining, black laces with red aglets and the inscription « limited Edt » imitating the traditional New Balance engraved on the side of the heel, complete the design. The whole is based on a black midsole on the medial side and sand on the lateral side, combined with the original outsole with upward sloping studs.
The Sandal 900 comes in an olive color with beige padded triple support straps. For optimal support, this sandal benefits from the BOA lacing system, with red accents as for the NB 327. The base of the straps is adorned with a leopard pattern on the medial side and pineapple and « Urban Islander » prints on the green lateral side, recalling the design of the other pair in this collection, the NB 327. The tropical look is complemented by a « Urban Islander » branding label on the side heel strap. An Achilles tendon reinforcement and a heel strap finalize the design and promise maximum comfort for long walks by the water. The whole is based on a thick and comfortable olive and sand-colored midsole combined with a non-slip rubber outsole.
The SBTG x Limited EDT x New Balance 327 & Sandal 900 will be released in a limited edition on October 15, 2020 on the shop limitdedt.com and Mr. Sabotage’s sbtgsurplus.com, as well as in store at Limited EDT Chamber.
