Rick & Morty x ASICS Court MZ

Japanese brand ASICS unveils a new collaboration rather bold. The equipment manufacturer is associated with the animated sitcom by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, RICK & MORTY, in order to offer us a reinterpreted Court MZ silhouette in 2 colorways.

Rick & Morty is an American science fiction animated series for adults that follows the adventures (or rather misadventures) of the cynical mad scientist Rick Sanchez and his sweet but troubled grandson Morty. The grandfather and the teenager divide their time between their domestic routine and their inter-dimensional travels.

The first version of Court MZ is based on the main characters of the series. This includes Rick and Morty’s faces emblazoned on the side heel, Rick’s « Wubba Lubba Dub Dub » formula applied to the insole and neon green accents referencing the color of the portal guns used in the sitcom. For construction, the shoe is crafted in white leather, accompanied by royal blue detailing and black elements, as well as a metallic silver stripe on the side panels and placed behind the iconic Tiger Stripes. A white midsole coupled with an icy outsole finalizes the design.

The second version features a Mr. Meeseeks theme. The humanoid’s distressed face adorns the side heel and small lines scattered on the side Tiger Stripes recall the feather-like hairs the character is filled with when he hasn’t been able to perform his task for a long time. Dressed mostly in suede, the shoe consists of a mauve upper with purple overlays on the toe box and light blue on the eyelets and heel. To affirm the homage to Mr. Meeseeks, an orange plush addition on the heel appears as a nod to the character’s hair. An off-white sole completes the look.

The Rick & Morty x ASICS Court MZ duo is announced for release in late September 2021 at select retailers and on asics.com. More details to come, stay tuned !
