La marque au Swoosh dévoile une SB Dunk Low rendant hommage à Paul Rodriguez aka P-Rod, le premier skateur professionnel à avoir reçu un modèle signature chez Nike SB en 2005. Utilisant l’héritage des anciennes versions de P-Rod, une SB Dunk Low « What The P-Rod » a été réalisée.
Paul Rodriguez est une skateur professionnel américain d’origine mexicaine qui a gagné de nombreux contests, comme les X Games et le Dew Tour. Il est l’un des athlètes les plus appréciés de Nike SB. Ces modèles signatures élaborés précédemment représentent la culture skate et se sont parfois inspirés des ses origines mexicaines et de son amour pour un autre sport, la boxe. En 2008, P-Rod a fondé son propre label, PRIMITIVE, pour lequel il ride toujours aujourd’hui.
La « What The P-Rod » adopte un look dépareillé et audacieux. Elle combine de nombreux motifs et diverses couleurs faisant référence aux SB P-Rod emblématiques. On retrouve le motif rayé avec des notes florales de la « Mexican Blanket » sur la toe box du pied droit. Pour le pied gauche, l’Elephant Print rappelant les « J-Rods » est associé à la toe box beige et noire de la « Stash ». Les couleurs des lacets font référence au design de ces anciens modèles, et les doublures matelassées correspondent à des « P-Rod 2 ». Les Swooshes latéraux se présentent sous différentes constructions et formats. Pour compléter l’hommage, la paire est agrémentée de dubraes inspirés de la ceinture des champions de boxe, repris de la « Mexican Boxing » sortie en 2020. L’une des outsole apparaît en gomme traditionnelle et l’autre s’habille aux couleurs du drapeau mexicain, mettant ainsi à l’honneur les origines et la personnalité de Paul Rodriguez.

Paul Rodriguez is an American professional skateboarder of Mexican origin who has won numerous contests, such as the X Games and the Dew Tour. He’s one of Nike SB’s most beloved athletes. These previously developed signature models represent the skateboarding culture and were sometimes inspired by his Mexican origins and his love for another sport, boxing. In 2008, P-Rod founded his own label, PRIMITIVE, for which he still rides today.
The « What The P-Rod » has a daring, mismatched look. It combines many patterns and colors in reference to the iconic SB P-Rods. We find the striped pattern with floral notes of the « Mexican Blanket » on the toe box on the right foot. For the left foot, the Elephant Print reminiscent of the « J-Rods » is combined with the beige and black toe box of the « Stash ». The colors of the laces refer to the design of these old models, and the padded linings correspond to « P-Rod 2 ». The Side Swooshes come in different constructions and sizes. To complete the tribute, the pair is embellished with dubraes inspired by the boxing champions’ belts, taken from the « Mexican Boxing » released in 2020. One of the outsole appears in traditional rubber and the other is dressed in the colors of the Mexican flag, thus honoring the origins and personality of Paul Rodriguez.
