The famous Californian brand VANS continues to enrich and improve its sneaker offer. Just a year ago, it released the « Lizzie », a new silhouette created with professional skateboarder Lizzie Armanto. The iconic West Coast brand repeats the experience with Zion Wright and presents the ZAHBA.
Zion Wright is a talented 24 year old skateboarder who is a member of the US Olympic team. Famous for his skill on the board, he is also known for his unique personality and style.
Together with Vans, Zion Wright created the ZAHBA, a skateshoe that focuses on performance and looks great at the same time.
This new model is made from sustainable materials and Zion’s hometown of Jupiter, Florida. It follows the strict Vans VR3 material guidelines : consist of one or a combination of regenerative, responsibly sourced renewable and recycled materials making up at least 30% of the product. The Zahba also features ImpactWaffle™ technology, a combination of Vans VR3 dual density cushioning and SickStick™ rubber. It provides excellent impact protection while keeping the feel on the skateboard.
In terms of design, this shoe is inspired by Jupiter, the city where Zion Wright is from and parallels the planet of the same name.
It consists of an earthy brown upper, contrasted with black touches on the side panels, tongue and laces. To ensure the look, the pair is adorned with several special branding details, such as the Jupiter city lighthouse pictured on the insole alongside ‘Zion’ and ‘Vans’, as well as Roman numerals on the heel that represent the skateboarder’s hometown designator. The whole is based on a black speckled midsole and a rubber outsole.
This Zahba will be released with a textile capsule that includes a blue/brown hoodie with a belly pocket, a 70’s inspired white and yellow t-shirt, blue multi-pocket shorts and brown denim wide-leg pants. These pieces are adorned with the partners’ logos and ‘Jupiter’.
To celebrate the collaboration, Vans and Zion Wright shot a short film called « We’re From Here » that features his father sharing memories in his hometown of Jupiter.
The Zion Wright x VANS Zahba will be released on March 16, 2023 for a price tag of around $100, at select retailers and on vans.com.
