Since the rise of rap in France in the 80s and 90s, the city of Marseille, France, has always been a breeding ground for artists. Ayoub Zaidane aka ZAMDANE is a 25 years old rapper who left his country of origin, Morocco, to join the city of Marseille. He’s today one of the new phenomena of the M.A.R.S. planet.
It was at the age of 17, in the summer of 2015, that ZAMDANE crossed the Mediterranean to join France and Marseille in particular. At that time, no connection with rap. Ayoub had failed his baccalaureate and no high school in Marrakech wanted to enroll him because of « behavioral problems ». Only an establishment in Istres gave him a positive answer. He explains that he left for France very quickly and that he also quickly became familiar with rap music, which was almost unknown to him until then. ZAMDANE found a passion for this music and with a seemingly innate ease, he began to write, rap and assimilate the codes of hip-hop at an exceptional speed. As the months went by, his flow took a little more amplitude, his technique diversified and the prods became even more solid.
After impros on the side of the Cours Julien (Marseille center), ZAMDANE participated in the freestyles of the « Règlement » during the 6th session and then in the « Grünt 34 » in 2017. He thus began to make a name for himself. In 2018, the artist released his first project Yung D / C and will release several in the following years. As these tracks were released, the young MC made the buzz, especially with his track « Favaro » and became one of the hopes of the Marseille hip-hop scene.
On February 25, 2022, ZAMDANE released his first album named « Couleur de ma peine ».
With a great musical diversity and his personal history, ZAMDANE presents an eclectic repertoire, from songs about his country of origin, to his life in the city of Marseille, through the situation of migrants or the death of his sister.
Accompanied by Dinos, Soso Maness or also Jazzy Bazz, this 1st large-scale project was a great success.
Small important parenthesis : at the time of the launching of its 1st album, ZAMDANE wanted to call the people on the situation of the migrants and to support « SOS Méditerranée ». Thanks to his approach based on a concert, the sale of t-shirts, a gala dinner and the setting up of an online kitty, 14 300€ (near $15 000) were collected for the sea rescue association.
With his crew of friends producers, directors or designers, ZAMDANE wants to illuminate Marseille and the Southside. The rapper will set fire to the stage during his 2022 tour. He will perform on November 25 in some French cities, like Bretigny, December 1 in Tours, December 2 in Laval, December 15 in Toulouse and December 16 in Bordeaux. You can book your tickets HERE.
