YMC X ASICS TARTHER OG

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]The London-based brand YMC (You Must Create) has teamed up a second time with the Japanese brand Asics, to offer us a capsule collection based on a hyper popular silhouette in England in the underground music scene of the late 80s : the Tarther OG. At that time, rave parties were gathering places where revellers of all backgrounds came together in an open and positive state of mind to celebrate their love of music.

Through this collaboration, Fraser Moss, the co-founder and designer of the YMC, passionate about music and subversive arts, wanted to pay tribute to rave culture. He took up the mix of styles and the spirit of unity that emanated from these parties. It’s from these moments that the trend of wearing sports shoes, so that you can dance until daybreak, with clothes with Aztec patterns started.

The YMC x ASICS TARTHER OG is available in two colorways : caramel brown and midnight blue.

True to the YMC philosophy of « keeping a keen sense of detail, an emphasis on texture, colour and a strong creative mind », these two carefully designed pairs benefit from premium quality materials.

The base is made of « ikat » printed canvas : the pattern created by YMC and inspired by traditional Mexican textiles. For each pair, the colour palette chosen to structure this print guarantees a beautiful harmony on the sneaker : shades of blue, pink and yellow for the Midnight Blue pair and pink, brown and purple for the Caramel shoe.

The mudguard is in suede (caramel or midnight blue depending on the model) with some harmonious perforations on the top. This same material was used to create the elegant laceguard whose design is reminiscent of the lines of the « ikat » patterns. The classic Asics leather stripes seem to start from this last element and cover the quarter panel. The laces are also made of leather, in the same colour as the laceguard, and to reinforce the reference to the Aztec culture, pearls are threaded through them.

The hell counter is covered with brightly coloured leather (orange or yellow), on which the wide YMC branding appears. These three letters can also be seen embossed on the leather tongue.

The finishes are well crafted. For example, the tone-on-tone stitching on the upper highlights the suede inserts, and the colours ot the heel that come over part of the midsole, brings elegance to the pair. The rest of the sole is white and the whole is based on a gum outsole.

This YMC x ASICS Tarther OG collaboration, part of YMC’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection, will be available online from April 5th on the label’s website : youmustcreate.com and will be released in Asics’s partner shops such as END. Asphaltgold and SNS on April 11th, 2020.

This limited collection will be priced at 125 €[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”30740″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
