Following the success of their first collaboration in 2020 based on the 992 silhouette, the Japanese brand WTAPS and the American equipment manufacturer NEW BALANCE unveil their 2nd collaborative project. The 2 partners are now celebrating the classic NB 990v2 runner with a simple and elegant look.
In 1993, Tokyo-based designer Tetsu Nishiyama launched his first label called FPAR, inspired by the principle of anarchism. Wanting to offer more refined streetwear pieces, this famous designer abandoned his first imprint to found the fashion brand WTAPS in 1996. With his taste for utilitarian clothing and beautiful finishes, Tetsu Nishiyama is at the head of one of the leading brands in Japanese streetwear today.
The shoe presented today is Made in USA. It consists of a steel grey mesh upper enhanced by soft grey suede overlays in different shades depending on their placement on the foot. The side N logo appears in tone on tone and USA is subtly engraved on the side heel. The tongue offers a slight contrast with its signature dark olive green WTAPS hue. It features the New Balance branding details embroidered in white. To affirm the collab, the co-branding is affixed to the insole. The harmonious look is ensured by a lining, laces and a midsole of ABZORB technology in grey. A black outsole with a touch of grey provides the finishing touch.
