Always active in terms of collaborations, the British shop END. presents a new project elaborated with the Californian brand VANS VAULT and the label of the Japanese designer Masaaki Homma, MASTERMIND WORLD. This new capsule celebrates the importance of small details and subcultural style.
Through his brand MASTERMIND WORLD, Masaaki Homma emphasizes intricate details. He studies, experiments and meticulously works with fabrics, construction techniques and design in general. This thoughtful approach to craftsmanship is reflected in the pieces of this collaborative collection, which is adorned with a « Punk » look, particularly appreciated by the Japanese designer.
The capsule consists of 2 flagship silhouettes of the Vans Vault brand : the Old Skool and the Sk8-Hi. These shoes are presented in the form of duos with a timeless color palette : a first duo Old Skool and Sk8-Hi in white and the second in black.
With multiple details and cut-and-paste inspiration, these sneakers offer a different look depending on the color. The black pairs are adorned with mostly white logos and branding, while the white versions are adorned with tonal details.
The Old Skool features a combination of suede, leather and premium canvas upper, and sports the famous Vans signature checkerboard pattern on the sides. To complete the distinctive aesthetic, the collar and side stripe appear in exposed foam and the tongue is lined. Among other details, the MASTERMIND WORLD branding is embroidered on the toe box and the Skull & Bones logo adorns the pull tabs.
The Sk8-Hi consists of a suede upper with a leather lining. It features a zipper next to the laces and a metal ring added to the tongue to affirm Masaaki Homma’s rebellious punk inspiration. Vans’ iconic checkered pattern is subtly applied to the front side of the midsole, while the skull logo is proudly applied to the ankle area. The look is finalized with a deconstructed, layered and misaligned sole unit.
To accompany these sneakers, a skateboard was also made. It’s entirely black and has the famous MASTERMIND WORLD white skull logo in the middle.
The Vans Vault by Mastermind World presented by END. capsule will be released on November 27, 2021 via an open raffle starting November 22 on launches.endclothing.com. Don’t sleep !
