Vans Skate Half Cab ’92

The famous Californian brand VANS is undeniably part of the American skateboarding heritage. While it has also managed to seduce multidisciplinary artists, as evidenced by the latest collab with rapper A$AP ROCKY (article available HERE), VANS is now honoring one of its historical cult silhouettes, the Half Cab, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.

In 1989, the Californian brand and skateboarding legend Steve Caballero presented their first collab : the Caballero. It was a signature shoe in High format designed for skateboarding. A few years later, in 1992, skateboarders customized this sneaker to fit their needs. With no frills, they cut the upper with scissors and reinforced it with tape. The Half Cab was born. Without knowing it, these skateboarders had created the skateshoe that would become and remain the best in the world.

To pay tribute to the 3 decades of this famous silhouette that has accompanied generations of skateboarders, Vans presents the Skate Half Cab ’92. A reworked skateshoe combining heritage and innovation. Made of pig suede, it features a molded heel counter, a stabilized tongue with straps for a snug fit, which provides foot support and enhances movement control. In the underlay, DURACAP reinforcements are softer and thinner to reduce friction points while maximizing strength where skaters need it. To complement comfort and enhance performance, there’s the famous PopCush energy return insole, a heavier toe texture and durable SickStick rubber on the bottom of the foot.

This reworked silhouette is introduced in 2 colorways : « Dress Blues » and « Taupe ». Both versions feature a black tongue and inner lining as well as white laces to contrast the blue or beige upper. The black and white branding label « Half Cab » adorns the tongue as well as the ankle area. White stitching and a white sole complete the look.

The Vans Skate Half Cab ’92 « Dress Blues » and « Taupe » are available now in stores and on vans.com, priced at 75$ per pair. Sizesrun US 3.5 to US 13. To keep up with Half Cab news throughout the year, stay tuned and visit the California-based brand’s website regularly.
