Last summer, the UP THERE shop presented a collaborative NB 2002R « Backyard Legends » design inspired by one of Australia’s favorite hobbies : barbecuing with family and friends. Building on the success of this first collaboration, the Melbourne store and the Boston-based sportswear brand have reworked this popular silhouette for a second time.
After drawing inspiration from the habits of the Australian people, UP THERE took an interest in American specificities to design this new 2002R special.
Named « Backyard Legends II », the shoe features a look that pays homage to American culture.
It appears primarily in a combination of technical mesh and premium suede in white and burgundy. The synthetic materials used on the previous 2002R have been replaced with American-made Wolverine suede. To complete the design, the pair is adorned with light yellow details, such as the grained leather insert under the ankle, TPU top eyelets and the model name « 2002R » applied to the toe overlay. New Balance’s iconic metallic grey color is found on the heel tab, embossed tongue top branded « new balance AUS » and the iconic side N logo. Last but not least, the orange-pink color is used to define some logos, the insole and part of the sole unit under the heel. The whole is based on an off-white N-ERGY midsole and a black/pink/yellow tri-color outsole, which harmoniously finalize the design.
The UP THERE x New Balance 2002R « Backyard Legends II » will first be released on December 9, 2022 at 16pm EST (8am AEDT) in stores, before being available online one day later, also on December 10, 2022 at 10pm. Be ready !
