Last spring, the Japanese lifestyle label UNIQLO and the Italian luxury brand MARNI presented a very successful first collaboration. The 2 partners have come together to design a new collection for winter, mixing simplicity and creativity. Presented as being ‘for women’, this capsule can be considered unisex.

This new assortment of 26 styles of clothing and accessories merges the inspirations of the 2 brands. UNIQLO’s craftsmanship, technology and minimalism are combined with MARNI’s unique fabric and color experience.

Must-have winter pieces are adorned with bold colors and graphics reminiscent of the 1960s, bringing a nice touch of warmth to the cold days of the current and upcoming season.

Yukihiro Katsuta, managing director of Fast Retailing Group and head of R&D at UNIQLO said about this collaboration : « Last season, our first joint collection received an enthusiastic response, we saw many pieces worn all summer. The collection matched the needs of people looking for fashion that allowed them to break free from the oppressive mood of recent years. This season’s theme is the joy of keeping warm this winter, so we used our popular Heattech technology and designed many sweaters and accessories. I hope customers will appreciate the high quality and creativity of this new UNIQLO x MARNI collection and all the creativity it brings to our daily lives. »

Francesco Risso, creative director at MARNI added : « After the Spring Summer collection, I am delighted to announce this winter collection. Through our creative process, we have been true to the sincerity of the UNIQLO brand and its philosophy. We have managed to bring the MARNI glow through the LifeWear philosophy that offers an impeccably designed wardrobe. Through this collection, I wanted to explore the aesthetic perception of the 60s, flirting with clichés. Patterns are Marni’s signature, they are at the heart of our vocabulary and identify our graphic language. This time, however, we transposed these psychedelic patterns onto body-defining garments, creating an enigmatic interplay of prints and anatomy to define the silhouette. »

The collaborative collection includes classic UNIQLO pieces with psychedelic 60’s prints and/or bright MARNI signature colors.

The 2 brands offer bulky down jackets, sleeveless and sweaters, vests, turtlenecks, pants, jeans, leggings and dresses featuring contrasting stripes or flashy solid colors. The color palette ranges from black to white, neon green, bright orange, sky blue, yellow, pink and brown.

The capsule also includes ‘mix&match’ accessories, such as hoods, mittens, socks and beanies made from the same material as the garments and featuring the same patterns or colors. Gloves and stoles in cashmere or wool blend are also offered.

To complete the outfit, it’s possible to buy collaborative scarves in 100% silk. Called ‘Furoshiki’ in Japanese, these items feature colorful patterns imitating the ‘hand painted’. UNIQLO and MARNI pay tribute to Japanese culture and tradition by inviting us to use these scarves in different ways. Tied around the neck, they can be used as hair accessories. Since ancient times, scarves have been used to wrap and carry other objects. Many techniques are possible and more are imaginable!

The Uniqlo x Marni collection is available since December 1st, 2022 in stores and online at uniqlo.com/marni. Prices range from 15€ ($16) for a pair of socks to 200€ ($205) for the oversized down jacket. Don’t sleep !
