To honor the 45th anniversary of the legendary movie « Rocky », the Italian brand DIADORA has partnered with retail giant Foot Locker. The two partners offer 3 special N9002 « Rocky Vs. » silhouettes, inspired by the iconic opponents of the Philadelphia boxer played by Sylvester Stallone.
Diadora enlisted the help of Philly-based illustrator Keith Shore to feature Rocky’s iconic rivals throughout the franchise’s films.
The first revamped N9002 pays tribute to Apollo Creed, the second to Ivan Drago and the third to Clubber Lang.
Each pair is dressed in the colors of the shorts of the boxer in question, displays his name on the label of the tongue and is adorned with a drawing of his face on the hangtag and the heel. To complete the tribute, the insoles feature an illustration of the fight between Rocky and his opponent, and the side heel is adorned with the silhouette of Rocky winning with his arms raised.
The pair dedicated to Apollo Creed arrives in a combination of the patriotic colors of the United States. It features a white base with blue and red accents on the side logo and inner lining, respectively.
The Ivan Drago iteration references the USSR with its red upper combined with yellow color elements such as the side logo, inner lining, heel branding and laces.
The Clubber Lang tribute version features a sky blue upper with neutral grey overlays. To ensure the simple yet effective look, the inner lining and laces also stand out in neutral grey.
The Foot Locker x DIADORA N9002 « Rocky Vs. » Trio will be released on December 14, 2021 exclusively at Foot locker, in stores and online at footlocker.com. The price is set at 120$ per pair.
