Visual artist Tom Sachs and the Beaverton-based giant will expand their NikeCraft collection in 2022. The two partners have unveiled a brand new shoe called « General Purpose ».
This 4th collaborative opus is a departure from the innovative and spacey looks seen at the beginning of the 2 partners’ association. With their popular interpretation of the Mars Yard silhouette, Tom Sachs and Nike have been moving towards more common demands for the past 2 years.
As the name suggests, this new shoe features a design dedicated to everyday use. At first glance, it looks like the Killshot, with its similar shape and panels. Digging deeper, we discover that the « General Purpose » consists of a cream mesh base with neutral grey suede overlays. The side Swoosh appears to be made of a heat-fused synthetic and is dressed in crisp white. To add a touch of contrast, the pair is adorned with electric blue heel and tongue pulls, and benefits from a matching NikeCraft branded insole. The whole is based on a gum sole that adds the final touch to the design.
The Tom Sachs x NikeCraft « General Purpose » will be released in the coming months at select retailers and on nike.com. We’ll keep you updated with the latest official details, so stay tuned !
