To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the successful NB 2002R running shoe, the Boston-based brand reissued this model a few days ago in a slightly modernized form. To go further in the re-imagining of this silhouette, New Balance once again partnered with the Seoul-based contemporary streetwear brand THISISNEVERTHAT. Two versions of this runner NB 2002R are presented to us today, one white and the other grey.
The shoe with its vintage look is composed of a grey or white aged mesh upper, depending on the iteration, with leather and suede overlays in tone on tone.
We find the classic black N logo on the quarter panel with embroidered over-contours. Subtle black accents for the grey pair and in silver color for the white sneaker, positioned on the front of the shoe and the heel, add cachet to the pair. A nice touch of modernity is brought by the solid perforated heel reinforcement, in horizon blue color for the grey iteration and silver color for the white sneaker. The name of the model under the ankle, the THISNEVERTHAT branding inlaid on the top of the tongue and the green insole with co-brandings complete the look. The tongue and vintage laces matching the vamp complete the design. The whole is based on a yellowed midsole for the white pair and black for the grey sneaker, combined with a black and grey outsole respectively. This sole benefits from the new innovative N-ergy technology and double Abzorb cushioning, bringing the final touch of modernity.
The THISISNEVERTHAT x New Balance 2002R in two colors will be available exclusively on September 21, 2020 on the New Balance Korea website nbkorea.com and on thisisneverthat.com, as well as on the websites of selected NB retailers.
