The label of the Dj-designer Chelo, THATBOII, is associated for the second time with the famous German brand KangaROOS. After offering us an Ultralite « Street 355C » highlightening BMX (article available HERE), the young Munich-based label unveils an iteration called « The Club », inspired by the great Michael Jordan’s second passion, golf.
Chelo founded his brand THATBOII mixing streetwear and premium quality in 2016. The label is known for designing « Made in Germany » pieces in limited quantities, attracting the interest of music and fashion personalities. THATBOII and high-end lifestyle brand KangaROOS share the same love of beautiful materials and local craftsmanship. The second collaboration they present to us was also designed in Germany with premium materials.
Basketball is an important part of Chelo’s life. Through this shoe, he pays tribute to Michael « Air » Jordan, the legendary basketball player who also excelled in golf. For the THATBOII founder, this second discipline has been a bit neglected in terms of fashion influence and he intends to bring it to light with this sneaker « The Club ».
The shoe consists of an upper in shades of white combining mesh (reminiscent of the pattern of golf balls) with velours and Spandex. This base is enhanced by a green laceguard referring to the golf green and light yellow laces (a green set is also included). The THATBOII branding appears on the tongue, the label sewn next to the laceguard and on a removable leather tag. To complete the homage to golf, the insole features a plaid print, a nod to the usual clothing on the green. The whole is based on an off-white EVA midsole combined with a matching rubber outsole.
