Taka HAYASHI continues his long-standing partnership with California-based brand Vans Vault. The famous Japanese designer unveils a reinterpreted Style 47 Huarache LX silhouette. It’s the first shoe from the Fall 2021 collection to be presented to us.
This silhouette is one of Taka Hayashi‘s favorites, not only for its design but also for its history. It has been worn by everyone, from Mexican soldiers to nomads to surfers to hippies. The famous designer explains that he was inspired by Mexican shoe artisans to bring a new look to this shoe. He explains that he has always been fascinated by the intricate leather work and cool designs of Mexican shoemakers. The shoe offered today is his simplified version of their art.
This Style 47 Huarache LX combines the practicality of a slip-on with the elegance of a designer piece. Presented in 2 colorways, brown or purple, it consists of a suede base with wide tonal woven stripes. The latter features elegantly engraved lettering that matches Vans’ legendary « Off The Wall » slogan. The shoe features an adjustable strap with a metal buckle. An orange insole for the brown version, and green for the purple iteration, add an extra touch of color. The brown and orange tones are alternated on the upper midsole band, only on the brown shoe. This design is finalizing by all-white sole and embossed pattern on the side. The purple pair appears with an all black sole and features the same tonal pattern on the side.
