The German giant adidas has recently brought back to the forefront of the scene a basketball silhouette from 1984, the Forum, by presenting us an iteration Low, released exclusively in the Japanese shop Atmos (article available HERE). Today a new project with the Spanish retailer Sivasdescalzo (SVD) is born. This collaboration, based on the adidas Forum 84 Hi, aims to help the arts and cultural industry, areas that have been suffering since the restrictions due to the global health crisis.
This exclusive edition pays tribute to the Forum’s legacy on and off the field, a sporting and cultural symbol of the 1980s. This silhouette has been neglected for a long time, as has the art and cultural industry for the past year.
SVD is giving it back its rightful place by adorning it with premium materials. The shoe consists of an off-white leather upper with light grey textured suede overlays. Subtle navy blue accents, such as the adidas logos, two inserts in the back of the heel and inner lining, complete the look. The adidas branding is replaced with navy blue « SVD » on the support strap over the tongue. The whole is based on a yellowed midsole and a navy blue outsole, completing the vintage and neat design.
This collaboration aims to financially support the projects of designers from Barcelona, the city of SVD’s flagship store. Barcelona lives in big part thanks to its cultural and artistic attractions. It’s a city known for its diverse culture, its nightlife and its many creative communities, including Jibril Wekaforé’s Voodoo Club. A collective that broadcasts avant-garde African music. With the profits generated by this pair, the Voodoo Dance Club plans to create a home for all dancers in Barcelona, develop practical workshops, mentoring and management programs, as well as help youth create or find jobs.
Limited to 300 copies worldwide, the pair comes in an exclusive personalized packaging. An ID card containing the unique serial number of the silhouette will be included, as well as an interactive QR code to access and explore the world of this SVD Forum. The latter is inspired by the underground parties of the 80’s in Brooklyn and creative communities around the world.
