The American giant NIKE and the cult streetwear brand STÜSSY have enjoyed a fruitful partnership for many, many years. In particular, Shawn Stussy and his team have helped the Swoosh brand bring back to the forefront some almost-forgotten archive silhouettes. After the Air Penny 2, STÜSSY chose to highlight the Nike Vandal.
Released in the mid-80s, the Nike Vandal was a pair adopted by breakdancers. It also gained popularity, at the time, after being seen in the film Terminator on the feet of the character ‘Kyle Reese’, John Connor’s father.
As with his previous projects with Nike, Stüssy has dressed this special version in woven canvas. The collaborative Vandal will be available in 3 colorways : Fossil, Black/Metallic Silver and Deep Royal Blue. For the time being, only the latter version has surfaced.
This STÜSSY x Nike Vandal ‘Deep Royal Blue’ consists of a navy blue woven canvas upper with matching overlays. The pair benefits from a midnight-blue nylon tongue. To add a touch of contrast, the side Swoosh appears in black embroidery. This hue is also found on the removable ankle strap and laces to harmonize the design. The collab is underscored by STÜSSY’s legendary 8 Ball logo applied to the white tongue tag. The whole is based on a white midsole and navy blue outsole.
The STÜSSY x NIKE Vandal ‘Deep Royal Blue’ is due for release in the coming weeks, at selected retailers and on partner sites, stussy.com and nike.com, for a price of around $130. More details to come, stay tuned !
