German giant adidas continues its longstanding partnership with the Lucas film franchise. A new collaboration paying tribute to the Star Wars saga, and more specifically to the 40th anniversary of its episode V « The Empire Strikes Back », is presented to us. It’s the turn of the mysterious bounty hunter Boba Fett to be honored. The famous minimalist silhouette released in 1979, the adidas Top Ten Hi was chosen to develop this project.
This pair with its minimalist design perfectly matches the representation of Boba Fett.
It features the colors of the bounty hunter’s armor, khaki green and bluish light grey with yellow and red accents. The upper, made entirely of khaki green leather, has holes that refer to the battle wounds on Boba Fett’s skin and armor. The red and yellow secondary colors of his outfit also appear secondarily on the shoe, but they bring a nice touch of contrast. For example, we find a red piping on the toe and under the ankle, as well as upper eyelets and tongue label outline in yellow color. A removable brown leather mini purse can be hung on the side ankle, adding cachet to the pair. On the inside flap is a fighter’s phrase « You can run, but you’ll only die tired ». Branding details and Boba Fett interpretations stand out on the heel, insole and tongue branding. The number 40 is inscribed on the inside of the tongue label, commemorating the anniversary of the cult film. A green inner lining, a bluish light grey tongue, white laces embellished with « Star Wars » metallic dubrae complete the design. The whole is based on an anthracite grey sole.
The pair is delivered in a special box, just like the transparent figurine packaging. Inside, a Boba Fett poster is offered.
