Adidas and the Lucas film franchise complete their Star Wars « The Empire Strikes Back » 40th anniversary collection. After having honored a large number of models in Episode V of this ultra-famous science fiction saga, the central character Darth Vader makes his appearance on the iconic adidas Superstar.
The shoe is dressed with the colors associated with the great knight of the dark side of the force. It consists of a black leather upper with tone-on-tone stitching lines, referring to Darth Vader’s outfit and famous helmet. Red accents on the heel, tongue label and model name on the side appear as a nod to his lightsaber. The emblematic adidas 3 stripes stand out in glossy black and the traditional rubber shell on the toe box is reshaped to match Darth Vader’s portrait. A print of this portrait appears in black and white on the red tongue label. The red tongue label has the number 40 and the name of the film on the inside to celebrate the 40th anniversary. To complete the « dark » look of the pair, the tongue, inner lining and laces decorated with red aglets are black. In terms of details, there are two sets of black dubraes, adidas and Empire logos on the heels and insoles decorated in homage to Darth Vader. The whole is based on a totally black sole, whose translucent underside reveals the famous replica « I AM YOUR FATHER », here inscribed in red color to finalize the matching.
The adidas Star Wars x adidas Superstar « Darth Vader » will first be released on August 29, 2020 in Japan, at selected retailers and on adidas.com for 120€.
