Continuing the celebration of the 40th anniversary of Episode V of the Star Wars saga « Empire Strikes Back », adidas and the Walt Disney Company present a new collaboration. After having already associated a large number of characters on iconic sneakers, it’s now the turn of the legendary warrior Wookie Chewbacca to be featured on the imposing Rivalry Hi silhouette.
This sturdy shoe, worn by the legendary basketball player of the 80s and 90s, Pat Ewing, is a perfect match for Chewbacca’s charisma.
The sneaker features a beige faux-fur upper, reminiscent of the long hairs covering the body of the Wookie warrior. To complete the tribute to Chewbacca’s aesthetics, there are leather and suede overlays in brown color. Other details allow the shoe to be automatically associated with the character, such as the strap on the tongue, which echoes the design of the brave warrior’s ammunition belt. Chewbacca’s face and name adorn the black and beige tongue label, and a print of the entire character is applied to the insole. The silver metallic « STAR » and « WARS » lace dubraes, the 40th anniversary reference inside the tongue label and the adidas logo engraved on the heel finalize the design. The whole is based on a thick and comfortable off-white rubber cupsole.
The design allows the pair to be worn on the feet as well as kept as a collector’s item.
The Star Wars x adidas Rivalry Hi « Chewbacca » is scheduled for release on October 22, 2020 on adidas.com and in adidas stores for 150€.
A special edition collector’s poster of Star Wars will be included in the shoe box. The design of this exclusive box is reminiscent of toy packaging.
