The legendary British brand CLARKS continues to offer us high-end collaborations. After BAPE, ALD, KITH, Atmos and Size? (articles available on this site), the cult Wallabee silhouette has been revisited by the influential designer Emily Oberg, the founder of the SPORTY & RICH label.
The American designer said the Wallabee embodies the kind of unisex image she wants to incorporate into her brand’s aesthetic : comfort with a touch of luxury, perfectly combining casual and elegant looks. Emily Oberg is inspired by the streetwear of the 90s to develop her collections. This shoe therefore corresponds exactly to the universe of Sporty & Rich.
The Wallabee is available in 3 colorways, off-white, light blue and burgundy. It keeps its OG shape but its design has been rethought in a spirit of durability.
The shoe consists of a soft, buttered and grained premium leather upper « Heinen Hillcrest », from a German family tannery. This progressive company is reducing its carbon footprint through energy-efficient production. To offset the CO2 emissions, the tannery supports the « Kikonda Forest » project by planting trees in Uganda to combat deforestation. To perfect the design, the laces and the duo of hang tags, with the names CLARKS Original and Sporty & Rich, match the vamp. The beige leather insole is embellished with gold co-branding, and to affirm the attention to detail, the golden aglets are adorned with the meticulously engraved Sporty & Rich branding. The whole is based on an emblematic crepe sole, here in FSC-certified natural rubber. This label means that the rubber was harvested for the benefit of communities, wildlife and the environment, in a responsible forest management approach.
The Sporty & Rich x Clarks Originals Wallabee, declined in 3 colorways, will be released on February 22, 2021 at END. via a raffle whose registrations are open on launches.endclothing.com. The shoe is available in men’s and women’s sizes, for a price of 169€. Don’t sleep !
