The talented German designer and founder of the SONRA brand, Hikmet Sugoer, has been doing one eye-catching project after another. After recently collaborating with the prestigious Porsche Design brand and the Dubai Sole DXB festival, the high-end sneaker brand has teamed up with the American animated TV series SPONGE BOB (Sponge Bob).
Hikmet wanted to honor this famous comedy series broadcast on the Nickelodeon channel through the silhouette of the PROTO 3.
SONRA was inspired by the cartoon universe for the design and conception of this special pair.

It’s the energetic and positive main character, SpongeBob SquarePants ! alongside his best friend Patrick the starfish.
To reference SpongeBob’s habitat, the German designer presents 2 shoes made from pineapple fibers, a new sustainable and environmentally friendly material. We discover a yellow version « Pineapple Under The Sea » limited to 200 pieces worldwide and a gold iteration « Two Gold Doubloons » only available with the purchase of the yellow version and ultra-limited to 50 pieces worldwide.
These collaborative Protos 3 are handcrafted in Germany and individually numbered.
They consist of a 100% Pinatex (pineapple) upper and lining. To continue in the sustainable approach, the insoles with the pineapple pattern were designed from recycled soles and the laces are cotton. A touch of contrast is brought by the collar, the tongue and the heel tab of grey color. To affirm the theme and the collab, the friendly face of SpongeBob appears on a circular tag on the back of the heel, the side panels are adorned with the SONRA logo and the tongue is adorned with a green ‘pineapple leaf’ print. The whole is based on a comfortable white midsole and a black rubber outsole.
The Sponge bob x SONRA Proto 3 will be released on January 29, 2023 at 6:00 PM German Time on the shoe brand’s website www.sonra.de. The price is set at 310€ for the « Pineapple Under The Sea » and 600€ for the set of 2 pairs « Pineapple Under The Sea » & « Two Gold Doubloons ». Get ready !
