In October 2021, the rumor of the return of the famous Nike Air Penny 1 had surfaced on social networks (article available HERE). It will return not only under OG colorways in 2022 but also through exclusive collaborations. The first to be teased : a special edition designed with SOCIAL STATUS, the store of the conglomerate « Whitaker Group » of James Whitner.
This reworked Nike Air Max Penny 1 is adorned with a leather upper combining white and grey colors. This base is enhanced by black accents, such as the side overlays, the inner lining, the heel clip, the tongue tag and its pull tab and heel tab, but also the small branding on the toe box. The co-branding adorns the heel and insole in a « schoolboy » style. The particularity of this special Air Max Penny 1 is the removable Velcro Swooshes, 5 in total, which symbolize different sports : basketball obviously, baseball, football, tennis and golf. They are dressed in different colors and materials and the pair comes with a set of laces matching each version (6 in all with the initial grey). The whole is based on a white sole that harmoniously completes the look.
