As we approach the 4th anniversary of the release of the SneakerBAAS x KangaROOS « SIN CITY » (article available HERE), the Dutch retailer and the prestigious German brand are once again joining forces to present a second MiG version, the Coil-R2 « SIN CITY II ».
SneakerBAAS was inspired by another specialty of the city of Amsterdam to design this shoe. After the red color of the « SIN CITY » which referred to the epicenter of the city of Amsterdam with its windows and neons light, the retailer chose shades of green for the « SIN CITY II », corresponding to the « magic » salad that is legally only found in Amsterdam…
This shoe is handmade in Germany by the specialists at Hummel & Hummel and as usual, great attention is paid to detail.
The sneaker is adorned with premium materials elegantly combined. Hairy suede in 3 shades of green on the forefoot, with perforations on the toe box. Dark green suede dresses the heel overlay in a wave pattern. The side and medial panels, as well as the heel, are in black ostrich style vegan leather. Beige smooth leather elements, such as the inner lining and tongue label, add cachet to the pair. To complete the upscale yet playful design, the logos of both brands and special symbols (cannabis leaf and bong) are distinguished in the heel, side panels, tongue label, dubrae, toe area and insole. The whole is based on a white midsole with a speckled effect under the heel, combined with a gum sole.
The pair comes with two sets of laces, black and dark green with black speckles. To finalize the premium design and a nod to the Amsterdam specialty highlighted this time, the shoes are housed in a personalized bag that looks like it’s made of hemp and in a box with a notion informing us about the possible « effects » of this product on the brain…
