The American brand New Balance continues to compete with other sportswear giants by presenting attractive silhouettes and successful collabs. While an NB 327 redesigned by Franck Muller has just surfaced (article available HERE), a duo of 990v5 reinterpreted by Korean label SLOW STEADY CLUB has been unveiled.
Established in 2014, SLOW STEADY CLUB is a brand, a selective fashion boutique, a gallery and a café, but above all a « culture space » where beautiful values are represented and shared. The Korean brand proposes a calm, friendly place, which allows exchanges and to simply « take time ». This is quite a counterbalance to the current state of society.
This new collaboration is part of the long-running joint project, HOTEL990.
The NB 990v5 collaborative is presented to us in 2 timeless and eye-catching colorways : Grey/Taupe and Cream/Beige.
It consists of a breathable mesh base and tongue, complemented by suede overlays in shades of the main colorway and a harmonious side N logo. In addition to the usual branding details on the tongue and heel, the shoe features discreet SLOW STEADY CLUB branding on the side heel. To add a bold touch and reference their fictional hotel (HOTEL990), the heel clips of the taupe version appear in orange and bronze. Both iterations benefit from a white midsole, coupled with a brown or grey outsole matching the upper.
The SLOW STEADY CLUB x New Balance 990v5 duo will be released on March 25, 2022 in Korea, in stores and online at m.slowsteadyclub.com and newbalance.com. For now, no general release date has been announced. To not miss anything, stay tuned !
